Computer Technician

### Job Summary

A Computer Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems and networks. This role involves providing technical support to ensure the smooth operation of hardware and software systems, performing system upgrades, and setting up new systems. 

### Key Responsibilities

- **Install and Configure**: Set up new computer systems and install hardware and software as needed. 

- **Troubleshoot and Repair**: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices. 

- **Maintenance**: Perform regular maintenance to ensure systems are running efficiently, including cleaning hardware components and updating software. 

- **Technical Support**: Provide technical support to users, answering questions and solving problems related to computer systems and networks. 

- **Network Management**: Assist with the setup and maintenance of network systems, including routers, switches, and other networking equipment. 

- **System Upgrades**: Upgrade systems and components to ensure they are current and meet the organization's needs. 

- **Documentation**: Maintain records of repairs, upgrades, and other technical activities for reference and reporting purposes. 

- **Security**: Implement and manage security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats. 

### Qualifications

- **Education**: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e. g. , CompTIA A+, Network+) are advantageous. 

- **Experience**: Proven experience as a computer technician or similar role. 

- **Skills**:

- Strong understanding of computer systems, hardware, and software. 

- Proficient in diagnosing and resolving technical issues. 

- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux). 

- Knowledge of networking fundamentals. 

- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. 

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

- **Physical Requirements**: Ability to lift and move computer equipment and perform manual tasks associated with hardware installation and maintenance. 

### Working Conditions

- Typically work in an office environment, but may also be required to visit different sites or locations for on-site support. 

- May involve some physical activity, such as lifting and moving equipment. 

- Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines or complete urgent repairs.
